These substances are macromolecular compounds found in all mammals in the form of protein chains. They interweave with each other and create the tissue we recognize as skin. Apart from fibroblasts, our skin also contains other cells called fibroclasts, whose main role is to break down Hyaluronic Acid molecules.<\/p>\n\n\n

    The synthesis and breakdown of Hyaluronic Acid produced by our body is a dynamic process between fibroblasts and fibroclasts, so that balance is maintained and as much Hyaluronic Acid as is produced is also broken down again. This process is usually completed within 24-48 hours in the human body.

    With age, fibroblasts degenerate and decrease in number, resulting in the skin becoming thinner and losing its volume and firmness. Since Hyaluronic Acid is an extremely hydrophilic molecule, meaning it binds water up to 1,000 times its weight, its loss as a structural component of the tissues leads to the appearance of dehydrated, thin and fragile skin, with a predisposition to the formation of fine wrinkles, areas of atrophy and deep skin folds.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In 1996, in Uppsala, Sweden, Hyaluronic Acid was created in the laboratory with a composition almost identical to that of the human body. It is a stabilized Hyaluronic Acid molecule that does not come from an animal but is a product of genetic engineering.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    The difference between laboratory-produced Hyaluronic Acid and that of the human body is only about 1%, and this is so that the body cannot break it down easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What would be the point of creating Hyaluronic Acid in the laboratory that is exactly the same as that of the human body, since its lifespan would only be a few hours?

    As we can see in the following photo<\/strong>, the Hyaluronic Acid produced in the laboratory is a thick, transparent material in gel form inside a syringe.<\/p>\n\n\n

    If we therefore consider that we have a wrinkle, then by placing Hyaluronic Acid through a very fine needle at the base of the wrinkle, we fill the deficit and eliminate or soften the depth of the wrinkle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Since the Hyaluronic Acid that we place deep in the wrinkle is fully compatible with human tissues, it integrates completely into them and becomes a structural material of the body, which is usually difficult to distinguish after a few days following its application.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What is the mechanism of action of injectable Hyaluronic Acid?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Hyaluronic Acid, as a structural component of our body, when injected into the skin fills and gives volume to the tissues where it is placed.

        How are wrinkles in the glabella, meaning the area between the eyebrows, corrected?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        The wrinkle or wrinkles that form over the years between the two eyebrows are the result of the chronic contraction of three muscles located in the glabella: the procerus muscle centrally and the two corrugator muscles, to the right and left of the procerus. As we age, the constant frowning action of these muscles marks the glabellar area and usually creates one or two unsightly deep wrinkles that resemble grooves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        In other words, the real cause of wrinkles in the glabella is the contraction of the three muscles in the area, while the continuous repetition of the movement for many years results in a \u201cdepression\u201d in the glabella, as if there were a tissue deficit there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              There is no age restriction for the application of injectable Hyaluronic Acid to the lips.
              Usually, patients between 20 and 35 years old are concerned about the small size of their lips, while after the age of 40, lip augmentation is performed to correct both small or atrophic lips and wrinkled lips caused by age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              How long does the result of lip augmentation with Hyaluronic Acid last?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

              The Hyaluronic Acid used for lip augmentation is slightly thinner in density compared to that used for other areas of the face, so that it is neither visible nor palpable.
              Therefore, it breaks down a little more easily by the body and its absorption rate ranges from 20-25% in approximately 8-10 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              In simple terms, this means that after 8-10 months approximately 75 to 80% of the Hyaluronic Acid remains in the position where we placed it. Therefore, what we need to do is replenish the 20-25% that has been absorbed approximately every 8-10 months in order to maintain a stable and \u201cpermanent\u201d result.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

                Is it true that Hyaluronic Acid has an ANTIDOTE?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                Hyaluronic Acid is the ONLY IMPLANT in modern Plastic Surgery that has an ANTIDOTE.<\/strong>
                Since Hyaluronic Acid is a glycosaminoglycan, meaning a glycoprotein, there is an enzyme called Hyaluronidase that can break it down.<\/p>\n\n\n

                  If a doctor has used Hyaluronic Acid in the wrong position on the face or in excessive quantity, then we can relatively easily remove the excess material by injecting the Hyaluronidase ANTIDOTE.<\/p>\n\n\n

                  When the ANTIDOTE comes into contact with Hyaluronic Acid, it dissolves it immediately and transforms it from a thick gel into a fluid liquid, which dissolves and is absorbed by the body.                   Let us look at a case of incorrect Hyaluronic Acid application:<\/strong>
                  In the images that follow, a fellow doctor, fulfilling the patient\u2019s wish, placed Hyaluronic Acid only inside the nasolabial folds, meaning to the right and left of the nose and lips, thinking that this would solve the problem of facial wrinkles.

                  In other words, the Plastic Surgeon should place Hyaluronic Acid:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  1. in the line at the glabella,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  2. in the hollows under the eyes,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  3. in the temporal area,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  4. in the cheeks,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  5. in the \u201cdepression lines\u201d to the right and left of the chin,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  6. in the chin line,<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                    AND NOT ONLY in the wrinkles of the nasolabial fold to the right and left of the nose.
                    (See next photo).<\/p>\n\n\n

                    By avoiding the placement of Hyaluronic Acid in isolated positions and by broadly distributing the implant across many areas of atrophy, a holistic approach is achieved for the deterioration of facial features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    The following photos show the correction of the deformity caused by the incorrect application of Hyaluronic Acid and the improvement of the facial features.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

                    • in the glabella,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • under the eyes,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • in the chin,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • in the cheeks, and<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                      2nd. By using a small amount of Hyaluronidase ANTIDOTE at the points of incorrect application,<\/strong> meaning by reducing the amount of Hyaluronic Acid that had been placed inside the nasolabial folds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                      Only in this way can we achieve naturalness in the result, freshness, rejuvenation and harmony in the facial features, while clearly staying far away from deformities, distortions and generally unpleasant surprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                      How can we explain the deformities of people that we often see on television or on the internet?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                      The facial deformities that we occasionally see in people, usually in the media, could, as we have said, be due to the application of Hyaluronic Acid in the wrong position or in excessive quantity as a result of incorrect technique. However, when this is noticed, it can very easily be corrected with the HYALURONIDASE ANTIDOTE.<\/p>\n\n\n

                        Permanent injectable implants in liquid form are not absorbed by the body, tend to migrate, cause granulomas that are difficult to treat surgically and MUST BE STRICTLY PROHIBITED.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

                        Why is Hyaluronic Acid an ideal implant for human tissues?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                        Hyaluronic Acid is the only implant that I can very easily remove from the body at any time through the use of an antidote, again in injectable form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                        In very simple terms, this means that Hyaluronic Acid is not responsible for deformities or permanent changes in facial features because, as mentioned above:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          \n
                        1. it is not a permanent material, since it is absorbed very slowly by the body, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                        2. with the use of the Hyaluronidase antidote, the removal of the material from the body can be performed at any time and is impressively immediate and visible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                          It must be emphasized that, in order to avoid any reactions or complications, the correct injection technique of Hyaluronic Acid plays a very important role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          Very good knowledge of the anatomy of the facial tissues, understanding the properties of the substance and the aesthetic perception of the treating physician play a primary role both in the success of the result and in avoiding potential side effects and unwanted surprises.<\/p>\n\n\n

                          How long do the results of injectable Hyaluronic Acid last?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                          Hyaluronic Acid implants have a lifespan ranging from approximately 8 to 16 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          \n

                          A practical rule says that Hyaluronic Acid is absorbed at a rate of 15% to 30% during the first year. In very simple terms, this means that after one year, not all of the Hyaluronic Acid we have placed in an area disappears, but after one year, 85% to 70% remains in place. What we need to do then is simply top up the Hyaluronic Acid that has been absorbed if we want to maintain a very good result.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

                          In general, however, the degree of absorption of Hyaluronic Acid and therefore how long the treatment result will last depends on many factors, such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                            \n
                          1. age,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          2. skin type,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          3. the muscular activity of the underlying muscles,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          4. the depth and location of injection,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          5. the density of the injected material.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                            The thicker the material and the deeper it is deposited into the tissues, the lower its absorption by the body\u2019s defense mechanisms and, consequently, the longer the lifespan of the substance. Also, the lower the mobility of the area where Hyaluronic Acid is injected, the longer the implant remains at the application site.
                            In most cases, the treatment is repeated after 10-14 months in order to maintain a very good result.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                            Does Hyaluronic Acid as a substance have any relation to BOTOX? In which case do we apply one and in which case the other?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                            Hyaluronic Acid has no relation to BOTOX, the other modern substance used in facial aesthetics. They are two completely different substances, both in composition and in the philosophy of therapeutic intervention.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                            Specifically, Hyaluronic Acid is a thick material in gel form, with which we fill static wrinkles and areas of facial atrophy, while BOTOX is a protein dissolved in saline solution, which does not fill or give volume to tissues but softens dynamic facial wrinkles by relaxing the muscles whose contraction causes the wrinkle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                            In very simple terms, Hyaluronic Acid and BOTOX are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                              \n
                            1. two modern injectable preparations,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                            2. different from one another,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                            3. one complementing the other, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                            4. they work together in a unique way in the fight against facial aging.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
                              \n

                              BOTOX corrects fine DYNAMIC expression wrinkles that appear in the glabella, forehead and \u201ccrow\u2019s feet\u201d at the sides of the eyes, while Hyaluronic Acid provides a solution for both deep and finer STATIC wrinkles that form in the perioral area, \u201csmoker\u2019s lines\u201d, the periocular area, the forehead, the glabella or the cheekbones.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

                              Can I achieve the result of Hyaluronic Acid treatment by using creams that contain Hyaluronic Acid?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                              There are many creams on the market that promise anything from a lot to miracles. They contain several anti-aging substances that could have some effect on the texture or color of the skin, but under no circumstances on the contour or the restoration of deep wrinkles or facial folds.
                              Hyaluronic Acid molecules are macromolecules, meaning substances with a high molecular weight, and therefore they cannot pass through the normal skin barrier, the barrier that protects the skin from the environment.
                              Therefore, the only way for these large molecules to pass deep into the skin is to bypass the skin barrier and transfer them in a \u201cmechanical\u201d way, namely through a needle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                              Creams are generally necessary and have excellent action in hydrating and improving the texture of the skin, but unfortunately they have disappointing results in the essential treatment of wrinkles and folds of the facial skin.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                              The result of treatment with injectable Hyaluronic Acid is unique and irreplaceable because it is the only way to provide exactly what is missing, exactly where it is needed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                              Can I achieve the result of Hyaluronic Acid treatment on my face if I use dietary supplements, such as tablets containing Hyaluronic Acid?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                              The choice of using these substances orally is, unfortunately, not effective. This happens mainly for two reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                              1st. because Hyaluronic Acid is broken down in the stomach and intestine by proteolytic enzymes and does not have time to enter the systemic circulation, and
                              2nd. because after oral intake there is a very high dilution of its concentration and therefore of its activity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                              When someone takes tablets containing Hyaluronic Acid, they should consider that the molecules of the substance are distributed throughout the entire body, with the result that the percentage that finally reaches the affected area is extremely small and the improvement achieved is in reality invisible. On the contrary, when we inject pure injectable Hyaluronic Acid, the injections target exclusively and in a controlled way the area under treatment, ensuring truly impressive improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n

                              5. correct the contour and shape of the face.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
